FSX TEST REPORT
Page 4 - Adding Memory and an SLI card
For the next set of upgrades we doubled the amount of dual channel DDR memory from one to two gigabytes, then we engaged the SLI interface for a second XFX 6800XT graphics card. The FSX settings were cranked up near maximum:
- Global Detail setting: Medium
- lens flare & Animation: ON
- AirCraft Detail: Ultra High
- Scenery setting: High
- Weather setting: High
- Traffic: High
- Bilinear Filtering: ON
- Anti-aliasing: ON

The message of these dissappointing numbers may be that with FS-X setting cranked up toward the
high end any gains made with many upgrades can be invisable. As described later, even replacing
the CPU with a faster, Dual Core model fails to improve these frame rates when tested in a demanding flight setting (take-off and climb in VC).
Lesson: Do not turn on the FS-X anti-aliasing feature (as was done in these tests). Instead, control the anti-aliasing through your graphic's card's control panel. This way your card will do the heavy AA lifting instead of the CPU.
